Highland Specialist Hospital (Centre for Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases), “The House of Hearing” was established on 1st May, 2000. It was incorporated in 2000 with Corporate Affairs Commission and has certificate number RC 433417.
The property was purchased and redesigned to fit into a standard hospital setting. It is situated on the major road leading from Total Garden to Adeoyo Maternity Hospital, Ibadan, thus making accessibility to be excellent.
Structure
The storey building of the hospital holds on the ground floor, a medicine store and supermarket which serves those that may want to buy the off the counter medicine, daily needs and provision. The out-patient, in-patient and people around enjoy these facilities.
Also the ground floor also has a reception, Nurses desk, consulting rooms, drug room, injection room, audiometry room (with audio sound proofed booth), Kitchen and toilet. There is a front space for parking. This can take seven (7) cars conveniently. A space adjacent to the building serves as a garage which can take 4 cars safely packed over night. Our in-patients find this quite useful.
The back of the hospital complex houses two (2) sets of detached bungalows of which one serves as the physiotherapy clinic and administrative offices. The second detached bungalow comprises of the labour/delivery room, lying-in wards, ECG room, Doctors rest room with adjoining toilet and bathroom.
Power supply
The hospital is connected to the National grid. We also have two (2) sets of stand-by generators which provide electricity on demand.
Facilities
The hospital is regularly cleaned and landscaping done; mosquito nets are also installed. The reception is adequately aerated, has comfortable chairs and television set. Efficient communication is maintained by intercom, telephone, pagers and internet facilities. There are three consulting rooms with full diagnostic sets; there are 13 beds with three private rooms.
The environment is kept clean always with regular sanitation and fumigation.
Labour ward/Theatre
The labour ward has a bed, resuscitative and adequate instruments while the theatre is fully equipped with operation table, trolley, anaesthestic machine, diathermy, microscope, ECG monitor, Sluice room and instruments for surgical specialties like ENT, O&G, Orthopedic and General Surgery. Instruments are autoclaved in a big and bucket type of autoclaving machine prior to usage.
